In 1993, when their first child was three, they made our first trip to an indoor playcentre. They came away thinking what great affordable entertainment it was for kids, and how one day they would run a similar business of their own. Well, they obviously achieved their dream with Serendipity Sam's! They travelled the length and breadth of the UK looking at other playcentres to see what they had to offer and which ideas they wanted to incorporate into their own. They asked their children (who LOVED the trips) what they liked, and what they hated, and eventually formulated a 'grand concept'. They then spoke with friends and professional advisors, both in and outside the playcentre 'industry', and added their input own extensive business experience before arriving at the final plans. It then took almost two years to find exactly the right premises which would allow the flexibility to include all the elements they wanted it to. They obtained the building in Romsey in early 2000, and opened for children to enjoy on March 17th that year. Following the popularity of the concept in Romsey, they actively looked for further units in the Hampshire/Dorset region and eventually opened two more Serendipity Sam Play & Party Centres. One in Christchurch in December 2002 and another in Whitchurch in November 2003. As Paul & Cecilia say themselves; "We're proud of what we have independently created (Sam's is NOT part of a chain, despite many visitor's comments to the contrary!) and obviously hope you and your children enjoy the Serendipity Sam experience" Please feel free to contact them with comments and/or suggestions. Unlike other indoor playcentres, we openly encourage input from our customers. |
